Reflected in you… Sylvia Day

They say it is always healthy to have a mirror held up to ones self to better understand flaws.  But are you freaking kidding me? This book had me in my feelings more than Drake right now.

Eva and Gideon are insatiable for each other and made me shift my seated position more than I am comfortable admitting. The inexplicable pull they have toward one another sucked me in so fast until it was 4am and I didn’t even care that I had to run the kids to school in 3 hours.

Finally, FINALLY Eva is seeing some action from more than just Gideon and I don’t find her altogether ashamed about it right away (which then had me gritting my teeth like a mother because dark, intense smolder gets me every.time). Gideon gets a nice taste of his own treatment and as Eva said “set the precedent for how I treat my exes” (oh snap) with rock star (and body) hottie Brett Kline.

Cary as the beautiful, lovable but successful failure (yea, I know how that sounds) made me want to smack him and hug him at the same time while contemplating where I would have stood in the pile in their living room.

The ending of this book had my jaw drop and Sylvia took it to another level with this one.

I’m not mad at you Sylvia, not mad at all. (slow clap)

Reflected in you

Bared to You. (and raw renditions)

Snap. You know how you think you read one tragic book with “shady” pasts and think you’ve read em all? This. Book. It surpasses others in the details. ALL OF THE DETAILS. I felt like I was thrown into their lives and wanted to fight my way out it.

Gideon and Eva’s first encounter left me feeling hokey and 50 Shadesish at first (seriously what is with dominant males and elevators?), but once the character start building, holy.crap. The insatiable lust these two had me wondering if she sat on a inflatable donut at work.

Two tragic pasts self medicate with each other while giving the reader whiplash with the constant volley of emotion. Their obsession with each other made ME obsessed.

Go get your cocoa butter cuz this one leaves you raw and a bit chafed, yet decidedly wanting more.

The Elite (the Selection #2) and in mah feelings challenge

This is the second book in the Selection series,  a dystopian love story that takes place in future America or Illea.  This second young adult novel follows the Selected group of young ladies destined for Prince Maxon’s royal heart.

There are so many  plot twists, turns and love triangles that I needed a Dramamine to settle myself.   Through out the books, we see the currently political client in turmoil not unlike main characters America’s feelings.  I mean seriously, home girl was in her feelings more than Drake.  I wanted to hate and love all of the characters because this mentally placed me back at a middle school dance trying to sort through my overwhelming feelings.
As the competition takes on a new level, increased rebel attacks put heat on the selection process for Prince Maxon. America discovers she is not the only faced with choices and I found myself rooting for each character while gasping at the audacity of decisions they have to make at the tender age of 17.  Seriously though guys,  I don’t think I could make these decisions at 17 and the idea gives me a smidge of anxiety at the tender age of 35.

This series is a definite must for anyone who loves a good Dystopian Love story.  So as I wait on my next book in series, creepily peeking outside for the UPS man, let me know what you guys think!

Big Easy Temptations and scorching heat!

Captain Awesome (Dax) gives chase to elusive Holland Kirk, fully capable NCIS agent that was responsible for investigating his father’s public downfall from a unprecedented naval career.

The two fight their age old feelings while the mystery continues to entwine the deadly Bratva Russian mob trying to silence the Perfect Gentlemen.

The real digs? This book was a slow simmer that heated up so quickly I had whip lash.  Holland and Dax are the ultimate military couple that are kicking ass and taking names!  While unwinding the never (seeming) ending espionage plot that surrounds his best friend Zack Hayes (President of the US), Dax is determined to uncover the suspicious circumstance surrounding the mysterious death of his father.  Holland  serves as the level headed fixture in everything, except Dax Spencer.  Her selfless acts of love had me crying and cursing Dax until I wanted to board a plane to NOLA and slap him myself.  But God help us when a alpha male with sets his eye on redemption and trying to stoke the fire that has bound them together for the past 10 years.

For God and for country y’all.

Seduction in Session…Shayla Black and Lexi Blake (The Perfect Gentleman Series #2) Vegans and Bullets

First time reading Shayla and Lexi together and WOWSA. The character depth was AMAZING and the roller coaster of emotions kept my attention until the final pages. Vegan, idealistic Lara is served with a hard dose of sexy reality when CIA bad boy Connor Sparks storms into her safe and predictable life. Both struggle against who they thought they were as they realize they are entangled in a dangerous mission that threatens everything they know and love. If you thought the first book Scandal Never Sleeps sizzled, this 2nd installment will threaten to singe your eyebrows!

Besides the ultimate singe of the eyebrows, Connor makes me clutch my pearls with all that hot, male dominance while Lara is persistently submissive while demurely sticking it to the man.  the dynamics of this couple is unlike any I’ve read, but most definitely something I could get into.  Vegans and Bullets.
